Parent Leadership resources online 

More comprehensive resources to assist our member Parent Advisory Councils (PACs) and District Parent Advisory Councils (DPACs) have been added to our website. Our latest resources are part of the Parent Leadership series.

Notice of 2010 Annual General Meeting and Spring Conference 

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the B.C. Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (BCCPAC) will be held at the Coast Plaza Hotel, Vancouver, BC beginning at 8:30 am on Saturday April 17, 2010. The Spring Conference will be happening on Friday, April 16, 2010.   The room rate of $119 (plus taxes) per night single/double ($20 extra pp) is available from Monday, April 12 – Tuesday, April 20, with bookings now being accepted by the hotel. Information regarding the AGM has been sent to members and additional information including conference details will be emailed to members with updates being posted regularly to the BCCPAC website – check back oftenwww.bccpac.bc.ca

Reminderdeadline for nominations and awards is February 28,2010.

Vibrant FACES program

When it comes to participating in physical activity and sport, many young women have perceived barriers like incompetence, low self-esteem, poor body image and lack of motivation. The Vibrant FACES program was developed to help young women in grades 7/8 overcome these barriers, and feel comfortable getting involved and participating in physical activity and sport! http://www.phecanada.ca/eng/pgschools/vibrant_faces.cfm

On the plate at Breakfast TV: Be There for Schools Contest to win funds

It's back: Breakfast TV's Be There for Schools contest, offering grants of $1,000 each to eight schools needing new books, band equipment, or other supplies. Schools must be in the Lower Mainland or Fraser Valley. Simply fill out the entry form. Creative entries are welcome, but not necessary. Deadline: May 14, though the sooner you enter, the better your chances. Questions? Contact Breakfast TV's Margaret Wong.

The English 10 and 11 First Peoples Response Draft curriculum is now available on the Ministry of Education website for review and feedback. Response Forms in WORD and PDF formats are available at: http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/irp/drafts/ The deadline for written response is March 26, 2010.
