BCCPAC Governance Audit

The Board of Directors has chosen Anders Ourom and Donald Golob to conduct a governance audit of the BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils (BCCPAC). Anders Ourom is a lawyer and consultant specializing in providing legal advice to not-for-profit organizations. Donald Golob is a consultant who provides strategic and organizational

planning assistance to not-for-profits. The Board believes that it is in the best interest of BCCPAC to contract independent auditors with the qualifications and expertise required to complete the audit. The Board of Directors made the decision to conduct a governance audit to ensure BCCPAC is meeting all the legal requirements of an incorporated society. The audit is being managed by a committee of the Board, and will also address the following:

  1. Assess the current governance structures and processes of BCCPAC and analyze their alignment with the mission, values, purposes and strategic vision plan of the organization.

  2. Analyze the alignment between governance structures and organizational processes and identify where challenges currently exist or may potentially arise.

  3. Make recommendations with respect to the governance processes and structures appropriate for the future of BCCPAC in order to achieve its mission and goals.

This audit is critical to ensure we have the proper structures in place to move our organization forward, and requires Donald and Anders to seek the input of BCCPAC members, Board of Directors, staff and contractors as part of the audit. The primary vehicle for input will be an online survey that will be e-mailed to member contacts early next year. Members can follow the progress of the governance audit.
